Description
CHICKEN BAKE WITH MUSHROOMS, TOMATO AND BACON
Ingredients provided:
• Chicken piece(s)
• Canned tomato
• Tomato puree
• Fresh herbs
• Onion
• Mushrooms
• Bacon
• Rice (if selected)
• Vegetables (if selected)
Ingredients from own source:
• Salt and pepper
• Oil for frying
• Sugar
Equipment required:
• Frying pan
• Casserole dish with lid
• Cutting board and sharp knife
• Pot with lid for rice
• Pan with lid for vegetables
Instructions:
• Let the chicken reach room temperature and season with salt and pepper.
• Meanwhile slice the onion and mushrooms. Keep mushrooms separately aside.
• Fry the onion in some oil in the frying pan over medium heat 5 minutes.
• Set the oven to 180°C.
• Add the chicken pieces to the frying pan and brown all sides.
• Transfer the chicken and onion to the casserole and add the canned tomato and tomato puree. Add some sugar to the tomato on the chicken. Cover and bake until chicken is done – 30 minutes or so. (Keep the frying pan for the mushrooms later.)
• While the chicken is in the oven, cook the rice and vegetables.
• Use the frying pan from earlier to cook the bacon. Once the bacon is halfway done, add the mushrooms, cover and cook until liquid that forms is re-absorbed.
• Remove the lid and let bacon and mushrooms fry a bit.
• Once the chicken is done, remove from the oven and sprinkle the bacon and mushrooms over the chicken.
• Serve with rice and vegetables.
