GINGER BEER PULLED PORK
Ingredients provided:
• Pork
• Ginger beer
• Soy sauce
• Garlic
• Cinnamon
• Rice (if selected)
• Vegetables (if selected)
Ingredients from own source:
• Salt and pepper
Equipment required:
• Jug
• Oven dish with lid
• Pot to cook rice
• Pan to cook vegetables
• Large forks or tongs
• Serving platter
Instructions:
• Set the oven to 180°C.
• Peel and crush the garlic.
• Mix ginger beer and soy sauce in the jug.
• Put the pork in the oven dish and randomly put the garlic and cinnamon around it.
• Pour the ginger-soy dressing over the pork.
• Cover and bake 1-3 hours depending on the amount of pork you are cooking.
• While the meat is cooking, make the rice and vegetables.
• Check the pork after the first hour – the idea is to have fall-apart tender meat. (Meat thermometer inserted into middle of the meat should read at least 72°C).
• Remove from the oven.
• Using the forks or tongs, remove the meat to the serving platter and cool down enough for handling.
• Meanwhile, decant the cooking liquid to the pan you used for the vegetables and set on medium high heat to reduce until you have a sticky sauce.
• Shred the pork with your hands or the forks, pour the sauce over and serve with rice and vegetables.
