WORS POTJIE
Ingredients provided:
• Several kinds of sausage
• Onion
• Garlic
• Carrot
• Mushrooms
• Potato
• Broccoli
• Soup powder mix
Ingredients from own source:
• Salt and pepper
• Oil
Equipment required:
• Cutting board and sharp knife
• Plates or bowls for individual vegetables
• Large, heavy based pot
• Plate
Instructions:
• Let the sausage come to room temperature and cut into bite size pieces.
• Cook the rice, drain and keep aside.
• Peel and cut the vegetables in chunks, keeping each sort separate from the other.
• Heat some oil in the pot on medium, brown the sausages and remove to the plate.
• Add the onion and garlic to the pot, stir a bit and let cook 5 minutes.
• Add the potatoes and carrots, reduce heat to low, cover and cook 15 minutes.
• Add the broccoli and mushrooms and return the sausage to the pot. Cover and let simmer 15 minutes.
• Mix the soup powder mix with a little water to a paste. Add more water to make a thin mixture and add to the pot. Stir through. Increase the heat to medium and allow to cook until the sauce has thickened.
• Serve with rice.
